About Captain David Schnell
Captain David Schnell has spent his life in service to others. He earned his B.S. in Political Science from Bemidji State University. After joining the Navy, he earned his Master’s degree in Business Management from Saint Mary College in 1997. Throughout Captain David Schnell’s illustrious career there, he was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Stars, the Joint Service Commendation Medal with 3 Stars, and the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
Captain David Schnell’s career is comprised of decades of leadership positions, including years in CEO level positions with the Navy. As the Commanding Officer on the USS Ford, he was responsible for the fiscal and logistical daily management and combat effectiveness of a guided missile frigate, as well as the hundreds of sailors that deployed there. From the Ford, he became the Branch Chief at the Global War on Terrorism Directorate. There, he drafted meticulous business plans and he continued to hone his impeccable organizational and business management skills. Then, as a staff officer for the Chief of Naval Operations DEEP BLUE Directorate, he served as a Subject Matter Expert and Principal Technical Advisor in creating and executing new concepts in warfare.
In his final position with the United States Navy, Captain David Schnell earned the position of Commanding Officer once again, this time on the USS Peleliu. On the Peleliu, he was responsible for all operations on the aircraft carrier. This included overseeing and managing a yearly budget of over $12 million, and reaching goals and deadlines in an efficient manner through his exemplary planning and management skills.
Captain Schnell was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 2010 and currently works with Xerox's Americas Commercial & State Government Transportation Group (ACSGT). He is the General Manager of the ACSGT's Los Angeles Metro Express Lane program, a project that delivers technology to improve motor vehicle services, electronic toll collection, and commercial vehicle operations throughout the LA metro area.
